Today is the 10th anniversary when the world was told Microsoft would be making a gaming console. Fact of the matter is Xbox > Playstation. thisdayingeekhistory: March 10 - On this day in geek history in 2000 Bill Gates announced Microsoft’s plan to get into the video game console world with the Xbox.  Gates announced the Xbox at the 2000 Game Developers Conference. The Xbox would be released 20 months later in November of 2001. Since its release the Microsoft Xbox has sold over 24 millions units world wide, 16 million in North America alone. It’s the console that spawned franchises like ‘Halo’ and ‘Fable’, as well as the predecessor to the Xbox 360.
